Welcome to the Ocean City Turtle Conservatory!
At the Ocean City Turtle Conservatory, we are dedicated to the preservation and protection of migratory terrapins in Ocean City, New Jersey. Our mission is rooted in a profound commitment to safeguarding these magnificent creatures from the dangers of vehicular accidents during their annual migrations.
Founded by sisters Mary & Ellie Laufer, passionate advocates for wildlife conservation, the Ocean City Turtle Conservatory is driven by a simple yet urgent goal: to save as many terrapins as possible from the tragic losses they face each summer on our roads.
Having personally witnessed the devastating impact of these accidents, Mary & Ellie Laufer proudly volunteer their time and expertise to lead our efforts. Through their tireless dedication, they actively engage in the critical task of searching for and safely stopping vehicles to rescue endangered terrapins during the summer seasons.
At the Ocean City Turtle Conservatory, we believe that every terrapin saved is a victory for wildlife conservation. Our dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of these vulnerable creatures. But our work goes beyond rescues; we are committed to raising awareness, advocating for safer roads, and fostering a community that values and protects our natural heritage.
Join us in our mission to make a difference. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, donate, or simply learn more about our cause, together, we can create a safer environment for terrapins to thrive in Ocean City and beyond.
Thank you for your support.
